Experiencing unpleasant emotions is a normal part of life, but when these emotions become constant or too intense, counseling can help. Working with someone who can act as a mirror, a guide, an advocate or a spaceholder can be an integral part of healing for some people. Although we can never get rid of anxiety, sadness, uncertainty or anger completely, we can live lives that are not ruled by negative emotions. Sometimes it can feel impossible to get out of negative spirals, or it feels that certain thoughts and emotions keep popping up, and this again is when counseling can help. Sometimes we need to be seen, heard and held in these challenging places in order to move through them. We may be looking for someone to hold space for us to go on our own journey of self discovery, or we may want some one to take more of a guiding role in helping us figuring out what to do, and both of these desires can be met in a healthy therapeutic relationship. My intention is to provide the support that is needed, based on the clients goals and desires, but ultimately to support your self-discovery, healing and liberation into a more joyful, easeful life.
I love working with children of all ages and parents (especially mothers, as this is the identity I know the most about) anywhere along the parenthood/motherhood continuum (pre-pregnancy, prenatally, postpartum and into parenthood). Early social emotional development, emotion regulation and mother/child attachment are areas of interest for me. I also love and am skilled at working with anxiety in its many forms. This can be full blown anxiety disorders/OCD or any unwanted anxiety/worry. My primary orientation in therapy is that we can build skills and resilience for whatever life brings us, and that it is never too late to begin the journey towards feeling a little better.
I look forward to meeting you, whatever your age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic, cultural, or religious background, and/or family structure is. If this is your first time seeking out therapy, I welcome you and am glad you are taking this big step. If you have been in therapy before and are looking for more help, I welcome you and am honored to help you find what works. Please feel free to contact me for a free 20 minute consultation to see if we’d be a good fit and to answer any further questions.
